Breast Cancer Conference calls for Community Partnerships
Under the Patronage of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of Public Health HE Dr Hanan Mohamed al Kuwari attended the opening ceremony of the breast cancer conference with HE Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Jabor al Thani Chairman OF QCS, Which hosted by Qatar Cancer Society under the theme “present standards and new perspectives ” in Doha on 28-29 October.
Speaking on the occasion, QCS Chairman Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Jabor al Thani stressed the importance of the conference as it deals with the future prospects of breast cancer. He urged everyone to get the best out of the conference pointing out that nowadays the disease is prevalent in much younger people too, Incidents of breast cancer among young women is considerably high in Qatar and the region compared to the West@ he added’.
“QCS is doing its best to achieve a package of goals including promotion of cancer awareness and prevention methods as well as extending financial support to patients who are unable to afford treatment expenses,” he added.
The conference stressed the importance of empowering the community in Qatar with the knowledge of early detection of breast cancer from young age.
It highlighted the importance of encouraging the healthcare organisations in the country to collaborate with QCS to promote breast cancer awareness which in return will improve the quality of healthcare and life of breast cancer patients.
The breast cancer conference has also stressed on the role of the corporate organisations in the country to be socially responsible and the need for partnering with QCS to spread awareness of breast cancer
Dr Abdul Azim Abdul Wahab vice presedent of QCS said,”This conference will address some of the new rules in the treatment of breast cancer through exchange of expertise and experience .”
Breast cancer conference will bring together over 3,000 speakers and top experts in the field of breast cancer from Qatar, GCC countries, Austria, Canada, USA, and Egypt, in addition to a number of stakeholders from Qatar, notably the Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Primary Health Care Foundation and the National Center for Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR).
This activity is a Category 1 – Accredited Group Learning Activity as defined by the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners – Accreditation Department and is approved for a maximum of 7.25 hours’.
He added “Accompanying the Breast Cancer Conference, there will be a specialized healthcare exhibition which is an important opportunity for the healthcare industry companies to keep the attendees abreast of latest innovations in the field of breast cancer care under one roof at international level.
